Brief daily updates on what I'm up to.
He's just this guy, you know?
Knocking through masses of one-to-ones, emails, admin tasks, training, and occasional bits of actual data manipulation after two days away from my desk. Busy day!
2 hours agoEarly train into London to talk about my AMAZING insight team to some potential new clients.
1 day agoA nice day with clients at their offices, and not-too-bad a commute home! I count that as a win.

3 weeks agoWorking from home alone today. Managed to be incredibly productive so far!
3 weeks agoThis week: plan out a client employee experience report, review the impact of QR code invitations on satisfaction scores, automate some executive reports, process some massive files in SPSS. Busy!
3 weeks agoWeekend plans: hoping that everyone's not still ill. Would quite like to do something fun please.
3 weeks agoTask for today - calculating confidence intervals on Net Promoter Scores. I really should write a blogpost on the logic behind this some day.
4 weeks agoOne of those days where there's a lot of faffy tricky work to be doing but I really just want to carry on reading my current book.
4 weeks agoPlan for today: usual client work, then post-work, post-holiday mountain of ironing. The worst part of coming home from holiday.
4 weeks agoBack at work after a very long two weeks away. I'm scared to open my emails...
1 month agoCurrent location: back in the UK. Almost home.
1 month agoCurrent location: somewhere in the North Sea. 52.6233° N, 2.47655° E
1 month agoCurrent location: Alesund, Norway. 62.46993° N, 6.15296° E
1 month agoCurrent location: Olden, Norway. 61.84355° N, 6.81057° E
1 month agoCurrent location: Stavanger, Norway. 58.97177° N, 5.72788°
1 month agoA super quiet Easter Sunday. Had a long walk listening to music, had some chocolate, dozed on the sofa.
1 month agoA relatively idle day. Haircut, coffee, family, maybe some Steam Deck later on. A day the word “pootling” was made to describe.
1 month agoEmails: CLEARED. Out of office: ON. Party mode: ENGAGED.
Two weeks off starts here!
1 month agoUnlocked Solitaire on my e-reader. Managed to stay up until gone midnight playing it, like I'd just installed Windows 95 all over again.

1 month agoAside from a supermarket visit I've not properly left the house due to illness in a fortnight. Looking forward to stretching my legs tomorrow!!

2 months agoRecovering from illness. Slowly getting back to work and on top of the to-do list.
2 months agoSuffering with an almighty headcold. Quiet, tea, and sleep today thanks.

2 months agoA bittersweet day - saying goodbye to a colleague who is just the absolute best but is (deservedly) moving on to bigger and better things.

2 months agoEnd of month, therefore it's admin-and-timecard-chasing season.
2 months agoSpent a chunk of last night considering whether to migrate from Bear.app over to Obsidian, including moving my micro.blog to Obsidian Publish. A quick import of my notes shows that the Obsidian file structure really isn't for me! Phew. Tinkering averted.
2 months agoTrying to keep client requests to a minimum this week while a lot of my team are on annual leave. Success so far: marginal.
2 months agoTrying to keep the momentum going on doing 30 minutes of static cycling a day. A post-work session's on the cards for today, which I need to find the enthusiasm for.
2 months agoCatching up on some client requests, then heading out for a team meeting. I get to work with people in real life today!!
2 months agoHaircut, then some prep and planning for our Norwegian adventure in a few weeks! Better buy some thermals.

2 months agoA day supporting my team while they're presenting their PHENOMENAL work to clients. Dang I love this group of clever people.

3 months agoGetting ready for a party weekend by... doing loads of admin. Hooray?
3 months agoToday: creating simulators and marvelling at the INSANE data manipulation that my team is able to do. Bunch of heroes, the lot of them.
3 months agoSpent some time over the past few evenings migrating some old blogposts to bendaubney.blog. I wrote about music a lot. Currently enjoying this phenomenal album I wrote about over ten years ago (!):
3 months agoOne of those back-to-back meeting sort of days. Client calls, sales call, product development calls (!), briefings, all the fun of the fair.

3 months agoWorking on plans, targets, and strategies. Enigmatic.

4 months agoToday’s plan: nice coffee, nice lunch, nice trip to the old cinema. Nice!
4 months agoSuch a busy week that I didn't get a chance to exercise this morning. Going to do a few miles after work then settle in to a very restful weekend.
4 months agoLooks like everyone's back from annual leave now. Busy busy busy!
4 months agoA day of finalising reports, chatting to my lovely team, then figuring out how to get around the floods in the area this evening
4 months agoEasy to let the long dark days get you down at the moment, but we had three minutes more daytime today compared to yesterday!! The days are getting longer!
4 months agoA day of report writing today, looking at some NPS trends over time.
4 months agoFirst day back after the festive break and I managed to set a 9am team meeting. I've been as gentle with my team as I can to apologise for this appalling bit of managerial oversight.
4 months agoStarting the new year virtuously - a short(ish) lie-in, a long walk, some ironing, and a wholesome meal cooking all afternoon. May ruin it by having an awful amount of cheese. Only fair, right?
4 months agoGetting ready to wave goodbye to a so-so year. Happy 2024 everyone!!
4 months agoEnd-of-advent plan for today: visit nieces and nephews, battle the hordes trying to track down the last of the festive food shopping, cook a MASSIVE ham, maybe play some video games if I get the chance.
4 months agoGetting emails archived, reports finished, and documentation wrapped up before finishing for the year.
4 months agoThe annual clear out of my work spam filter... and, yet again, it's almost all from Lead Forensics desperately trying to sell to an inappropriate lead. They're nothing if not persistent.
4 months agoSomehow I've managed to get a load of work done... which means I'm starting on trickier data weighting early when I could be deferring it into January. Glutton for punishment today!
4 months agoGetting the last reports and documentation done ahead of the Christmas break. Almost there...
4 months agoSpending the day reviewing reports created by the rest of my team before they go to clients. Easiest thing to do because my team are flipping A-MAZING.

5 months agoKnocking reports and client meetings out of the park today. Five down, six to go!
5 months agoSuddenly very aware that there's not many working days left of the year and a LOT of work to get done. Looks like a head-down-with-music-blaring kind of day.
5 months agoPlayed Day Of The Tentacle for an hour and got about halfway through. It’s remarkable that I remember so much of it since first playing it sometime around 1994.
5 months agoSpent a bit of time last night upgrading my Steam Deck from 64GB to 1TB and it's laughably simple. Cannot believe that it's possible to get a fully-fledged gaming PC for about £300 all-in.
5 months agoThe sudden realisation that there's three weeks of work left for the year and a LOT to get done! Eek.
5 months agoGot an early screening of Napoleon booked. Hooray for fun historical epics, boo to three hour films.

5 months agoTime for a walk around Christchurch meadow while avoiding the Oxford tourists
5 months agoWaiting patiently for my wife to wake up before making a plan for the day. Hoping the drizzle passes and we can go for a bit of a walk
